3 Mayors – 3 Visions
Collaboration? Collision? Compromise?
When the state of California struggles financially, cities and counties inevitably feel the greatest
"pinch." This year is no different. Local government is expected "to do more with less." Nevertheless,
major municipal initiatives are moving forward in Orange County, including development of the Great Park
in Irvine, the International Business Center in Santa Ana and the potential California-Nevada Super Speed
Train in Anaheim. Other issues, including CenterLine, use of Measure M funds, a proposed tunnel between
Orange and Riverside Counties and economic development, represent only a small, though controversial, list
of concerns on the agendas of this month's guests of the Orange County Forum.
Three of Orange County's most talented, energetic and highly visible mayors, representing diverse
communities and philosophies of government, Mayors Larry Agran, Curt Pringle and Miguel Pulido, often find
themselves collaborating on issues impacting their cities, even though many pundits would assume a high
level of disagreement would prevail. What are the shared visions of these dynamic leaders? When do their
interests and the interests of their constituents collide? How do they view the ability of local government
to serve their communities in the face of the state's economic and infrastructure crisis? How can you not
attend this remarkable event?
