Orange County's Opportunities In the "New" Economy
Scientific breakthroughs, technological innovations, and the creative genius of people have established a business environment of great opportunities, significant risks, and breakneck speed. Where does Orange County fit in the new environment? What needs to happen to ensure that we are prepared to take advantage of these opportunities . . . continuously? How do we lead change instead of becoming its victims? Taking both a macro and micro view, David H. Blake, Dean of the Graduate School of Management of UC Irvine, will examine some of the adjustments that our institutions must make to enable Orange County and its citizens to be major players regardless of what the future brings. Based on more than 20 years as a dean and his work with "old" and "new" economy companies in rust belt and high tech environments, Blake challenges us to look into the future - not to predict it, but to prepare for it.
