Remembering Ronald Reagan
On June 5, 2004, America’s 40th President died. Although born in Illinois, President Ronald Reagan was a true Westerner in the California tradition. As an actor, rancher, union president, political activist, Governor and President, his heart was always with the “big sky” of California. Throughout his long and monumental career, President Reagan touched and was touched by many Orange Countians. It is our turn to “Remember Reagan.”
Congressman Chris Cox, Associate Counsel to the President; Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, Special Assistant to the President as senior speechwriter; and Ed Rollins, National Campaign Director for President Reagan’s 1984 presidential campaign and author of Bare Knuckles and Backrooms, will share their personal memories of President Reagan, reflect on his legacy and consider “The Great Communicator’s” place in history.
Because many Orange Countians, of diverse political persuasions, have had numerous personal encounters or relationships with President Reagan, The Forum is asking its members and those attending the “Remembering Ronald Reagan” program to provide us with your own personal stories, memories and pictures. If you wish to participate in this unique opportunity, please e-mail a brief account (limited to one or two paragraphs) or photo to: OrangeCoForum@aol.com no later than noon on Friday, June 25.
Some of these will be shared during the program and all will be included in a book, “Orange County Remembers,” which will be presented to the Ronald Reagan Foundation.
