On Election Day, November 7th, Californians will choose the individual they want to represent them in the United States Senate. Incumbent U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein is the Democratic Party nominee for this high office. First elected in 1992 with the most votes cast for a Senator in American history, she has built a reputation as one willing to take on tough battles. Senator Feinstein is the first woman to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she won one of the toughest battles of her career in 1994 with passage of a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of military style assault weapons. Feinstein was a member of the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors and was elected Mayor of San Francisco in 1978. In an era of campaign sound bites and 30-second commercials, the Orange County Forum is delighted to offer this refreshing opportunity to hear first-hand from candidates for major political office.
