Higher Education's Impact On The Community
Established where the country's first Valencia Orange grove once stood, Cal State Fullerton has grown from a small college to a comprehensive, regional university with a global outlook and more than 25,000 students each semester. What are the secrets behind this educational success story? What prompted CSUF to establish satellites throughout the county and forge partnerships with public and private entities? On the eve of the university's 40th anniversary celebration, President Milton A. Gordon will outline CSUF's expanding role in enhancing the region's educational, business, scientific, and arts communities for the new millenium. He will address how the university's quality programs have attracted such luminaries as Colin Powell, Walter Cronkite, Bill Crosby, and Michael Eisner to raise thousands of dollars for scholarships. What does it take to produce graduates who include CEOs, entrepreneurs, teachers, doctors, lawyers, researchers, Broadway performers, Academy-Award winners and one of the nation's youngest astronauts? President Gordon also will highlight some of the university's prominent centers and institutes, which serve to bolster the success of Orange County businesses and enhance the region's quality of life.
