1991 to 2001… and Beyond
Ten years ago, headlines about Orange County spoke of crowded freeways, increasing crime rates, dirty beaches, and the high cost of housing. Today, many of those same issues continue to make headlines. Much else has happened during this decade. Orange County is rated as one of the best places to live in the United States. Our County's diversity has increased and our international trade has soared. We can boast of numerous centers of high tech businesses from medical products to computer software. Our scholastic test scores are among the best in the nation and we pulled ourselves out of an historical bankruptcy that could have crippled our economy. Ironically, during The Forum's first year, our country was engaged in hostilities in the Persian Gulf. Now, at our tenth anniversary, our country is again at war, this time defending freedom against terrorism here and abroad. In short, we have much about which to be proud - but still face challenges as we move further into the 21st century For the past ten years, The Orange County Forum has chronicled our history, bringing to our community local and national leaders who helped make that history. With an agenda focused on connecting Orange Countians with business, political, and community leaders who shape our future, The Forum has become "the place to be" whenever and wherever Forum events occur. Consistent with our high standards of excellent programs, The Forum's Tenth Anniversary program will be a "conversation" among Orange County's finest, moderated by well-known television personality Ed Arnold. Join with us for an unforgettable celebration of The Orange County Forum as we consider our past, evaluate the present, and look to our future.
