Orange County's State Senate Delegation on The state of our State
The Disappearing Surplus ~ Energy Crisis ~ Infrastructure Funding~ Workers Comp Costs ~ Water Shortages? ~ Reapportionment?
The first session of the 2001-02 California Legislature will adjourn September 14. The $8 billion surplus is gone. The state is committed to $43 billion in energy contracts. Many infrastructure needs, including education and transportation, may not be funded to meet growing demands. Workers compensation costs continue to be a major concern to businesses, which are increasingly being lured to leave California. Many observers forecast that water shortages loom as the next California crisis. Amid pressing policy concerns are the political realities of reapportionment and redistricting which impact the direction - right or left or somewhere in between - of public policy decisions, and they will be decided in the next legislative session. To discuss these issues - and much more - all four Orange County State Senators will, for the first time, appear together in their home county. All thoughtful, interesting and intriguing leaders of their communities and political parties, they will share their views, agreements and disagreements about the current state of the State, where we are headed, and where each of them would like to lead us. In addition, this is your chance to be heard by those we have elected to provide leadership in our State Senate. This is one program you will not want to miss!
