Moreno's, 4328 E Chapman Ave, Orange, CA 92869, USA

About the event

Years before Brown vs. The Board of Education, several Mexican American families from Orange County banded together to fight for their children’s right to attend White schools in districts across the county.

In 1946, they were successful when the historic Mendez, et al vs. Westminster School District, et al was settled in their favor by the California Supreme Court and paving the way for Brown. Largely lost to history within the et al designation, are the families from El Modena, Garden Grove, and Santa Ana.
