We are honored to welcome our moderator Jeff Collins, Housing and Real Estate Writer for the Orange County Register, and our distinguished housing panelists The Honorable Trevor O'Neil, Anaheim City Council Member (District 6), John Reekstin, Senior Vice-President of Community Development for The Olson Company, Cesar Covarrubias, Executive Director of The Kennedy Commission, and Alexa Washburn, Senior Vice-President of Planning and Acquisitions of National CORE, as they discuss solutions for housing in Orange County.

Jeff Collins, Housing & Real Estate Writer, Orange County Register (moderator)

As a real estate writer for the Orange County Register and the Southern California News Group, Jeff Collins has dedicated the past 16 years to covering the real estate economy and the scope of California's housing crisis. He explores all aspects of housing and real estate. As a testament to his efforts and commitment, Collins is currently the 2021 president of the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE). The Honorable Trevor O'Neil, Council member, City of Anaheim (District 6)

Trevor O'Neil proudly represents Anaheim's District 6 on the Anaheim City Council and was first elected in 2018. At the regional level, O'Neil has served as the city's representative on the Southern California Association of Governments and has chaired the Orange County Council of Governments. John Reekstin, Senior VP Community Development, The Olson Company

John Reekstin is the senior Vice-President of Community Development for The Olson Company and directs their entitlement and land acquisition activities. During his 15 years with the company, he has overseen the entitlement of over 80 communities. Prior to joining The Olson Company John was the Executive Director of the City of Santa Ana's Community Development Agency and served on the Board of the California Redevelopment Association. Cesar Covarrubias, Executive Director, The Kennedy Commission

Through his dedication and expertise, Cesar Covarrubias, Executive Director of the Kennedy Commission, is a leader in affordable housing and land-use policy. Covarrubias has spent much of his career striving to dissolve the housing crisis and his work has led to many impactful campaigns and policies that create real transformation.
